It looked as though the clash between the Super Eagles and South Africa was heading for extra-time until Troost-Ekong scored in the 89th minute.

Nigeria took the lead in the first half through Samuel Chukwueze (the little wizard seem to be getting mature) who was a handful for the South African defence, but were pegged back in the second period by Bongani Zungu.

Gernot Rohr made two changes to the team that faced the 2017 Afcon champions Cameroon in the Round of 16 encounter which the Super Eagles won 3-2 on Saturday.

Ola Aina was replaced by fit-again full-back Jamilu Collins on the starting line-up, while Samuel Chukwueze ousted fellow attacker Simon Moses.

Nigeria has now secured their place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) semi-finals after defeating South Africa1-0 in Egypt on Wednesday night.
